Community
Connections Church is People Not a building.
Our vision is to be a community of faith that exists to connect people to Christ and one another, expressed through discovery, relationships, cultural engagement, the arts, and worship. We seek to be a transformative community who experiences Christ through lives that stay connected beyond Sunday morning. We see ourselves joined to the global body of Christ, not just a single Christian community in Southern California.
Okay, so what does this mean? We think of a transformative community as a group of people who have come together to grow and mature in Christ. We work out our individual journey of salvation in a shared experience, realizing that while salvation is an individual choice, as the body of Christ we are connected. This is cultured through small groups, ministerial service in the community, and other fellowship and relationship venues.
The Bible teaches us that worship is expressed through all our senses and is a way of life. In worship we sing and offer praise with our mouths and we lift up our hands in worship and adoration. As we grow as a community, it is our desire to extend this expression through the arts, painting, drawing, sculpture, and dance, etc.
Our Bible studies and sermons encourage spiritual growth as we look into questions like What does it mean to serve Christ now in 2008? and How does the Bible, written over 2,000 years ago still speak absolutes?
We believe in:
Authenticity - A real and authentic experience relevant to today's culture and daily life, whether it be through worship or service opportunities.
Missional living - As Christians we go out into the world to serve God rather than isolate ourselves within a community of like-minded individuals. This does not mean we "become" the world. We believe that each one of us is a missionary called to reach our culture.
Christ-likeness - Through the study of Scripture and the love of His church, we focus our lives on the worship and emulation of the person of Jesus Christ.
Church - At Connections Church, we see the church as not just the "building," but as the presence of our Savior through the Holy Spirit within each one of us. WE are the church.
Service - We believe that if we are the body of Christ then each one of us has a significant role and function within the body. At Connections there are diverse opportunities for you to get involved and "be" the body.
Our ultimate goals are to see those who do not know Christ come to salvation, and to see Christians develop and mature in their walk.
